Captivate Your Audience
If the mere thought of delivering a presentation within your organization or on its behalf makes your palms sweat, your heart-rate quicken and your head feel dizzy, you’re not alone. Most of us naturally feel nervous before speaking publicly, whether we have delivered hundreds or only a handful or presentations. A lack of confidence, however; can really hamper your delivery and impact. In this highly interactive workshop, you’ll learn the art of persuasion, how to skillfully engage and connect with your audience, and the stamina to see you through to widespread endorsement. Whether you are tasked with delivering internal project or budget updates, training large employee groups or delivering keynote addresses to stakeholders, this exhilarating workshop will build the confidence you need to deliver a clear, compelling and concise presentation sure to be met with resounding applause.
Presentations don’t go wrong, they start wrong. We will show you how to hook your audience right off the bat using a variety of proven techniques to pique their interests and stay the course.
Based on the best-selling book Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, by Simon Sinek, we’ll discuss how the “why” factor is key to your audience engagement. In this section, you will learn how to effectively communicate your cause, why it’s important, and why your organization has chosen this path. You will understand how this compelling method resonates with the emotions of your audience.
Knowing your audience is a time-tested principle of communication, but what does it really mean? For example, a slide deck for a presentation with a group of senior executives will look very different than one for a group of engineers. Here’s where you learn to adapt your presentation to meet your audience needs.
Any audience will quickly cue into the fact that you are nervous. In this section, you will practice delivering presentations to an audience of 20 to 30 people, who will then peer evaluate your performance using Google forms on their mobile devices so you’ll get instant feedback on where you excelled, and how to improve.
