This module provides practical introduction to principals, tools, and real-world challenges of managing projects in the fast-growing energy sector. You will explore the full project lifecycle, from early concepts and planning through execution, delivery, and closure while gaining insight into how projects contribute to a more sustainable future.

What You Will Learn
You will develop a strong understanding of both the programmatic and financials aspects of the project management, including:
The project management lifestyle and programme management
Stakeholder analysis and effective communication strategies
Risk and value management in renewable energy contexts
Practical action planning tools, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
Use of industry-standard project planning software (e.g. MS Project)
Decision-making and performance monitoring techniques
Budgeting and project cost management
*Access to Microsoft Project (or equivalent project management software) is required.
Learning Experience
Through a combination of theory and applied learning, you will build essential project management skills that can be directly applied within the renewable energy sector. Upon completion of the module, you will receive a duel branded acknowledgment of completion from Durham College and the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Can I progress into further study?
Upon successful completion of this module, you have the option to progress to the fully assessed module Renewable Energy Project Management through the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI). By completing UHI's assessed module, you will achieve 20 degree credits at SCQF Level 8 (2nd year level), you then have the opportunity to complete the two further modules (Ethical Solutions for Global Business and Responsible Leadership & Management for Organizational Performance) to achieve the CPD Responsible Leadership and Management for Contemporary Business course.

Prerequisites
Applicants should be working within a relevant professional role or have a qualification equivalent to 2 Scottish Highers at Grade C or above, or equivalent. For applicants in Ontario, this would typically be comparable to a post-secondary certificate or diploma.
Applicants with other relevant qualifications or experience will also be considered.
